Skeptic Turned GE Cync Fan!
GE LED lightbulbs have a checkered past with me. I definitely at one point swore off buying another GE LED lightbulb until I saw dramatic improvement and well, here I am using more GE LED bulbs. That said, my family has used our GE Cync bulbs daily for over six months and I basically have them all over my home both inside and outside and they’ve worked great.►Setup:Setup is very easy even for the technologically disinclined individual. You simply download the GE Cync app from your favorite app store, screw in the bulb, and the app walks you through pairing. It’s really that easy and having setup a lot of these bulbs in my house, I feel confident in stating that it’s that easy every time.►Cync App:The Cync app is an absolute must and it’s a good idea to get familiar with it. Take some time to read up and do explore the brief intro it provides. You can control multiple houses from one app and create multiple rooms or areas, e.g. garage, kitchen, etc., all within the app. You’re easily able to add other users as guests who can have full control of the attached bulbs and devices. If the app is frustrating you, I do recommend keeping things simple – do you need independent rooms/zones. Or would keeping it easier and just independently naming each bulb make life easier (within the app)?Another tip – make sure that your connected smart device, e.g. smartphone, is on the same wireless network as the Cync bulbs. Also, be sure that Bluetooth is enabled on the same device.►Cync Bulbs + Color Options:My oldest Cync bulb has been going strong for 6+ months and is working great. Since then, I’ve outfitted my exterior garage lights, patio lights, exterior building lights (a detached building in my backyard), bedroom lights and more with these bulbs. My initial justification was the ability to control lighting whenever I’m not home. Since then I’ve been so impressed with Cync that I just purchased more bulbs for convenience and the RGB lighting controls. My wife and I love to liven up our home to match the current season. Over Halloween we set the Cync bulbs to an orange color to match the rest of our exterior decorations. Similarly we complimented our holiday décor with some festive red and green color on our Cync lightbulbs and we love it!

Easy set up
The brightness is adjustable and multiple colors to change. Is much better than led lights in walls and no damage

Work great
We had used Hue lights, but these seemed a more affordable alternative. They work great, but funny sync up to Alexa quite as well. They connect fine, turn on and off fine, but there is a slight delay that want there with the hue bulbs. But a bit concern

Great light, just ok tech
The colors are vibrant controls are easy to use. But they do disconnect from Wi-Fi and the Bluetooth a lot and you have to wait for them to reconnect before you can control it it’s very tedious.

Bulbs work good with Alexa, but app is terrible
My first time installing these was pretty easy, I just downloaded the app and followed the instructions and was able to connect them to Wi-Fi alright. They responded well to the app and I could do lots of stuff like change the brightness and color, save specific colors, change individual bulb settings, etc. the reason I bought the bulbs though was so I could set a schedule that would turn them on at a certain time with a certain color. It wasn’t too difficult to setup a schedule, and there were videos online to help, but whenever I set the schedule it didn’t go off. I started with ones just a few minutes in advance so that I could see them going off to make sure they worked, but they just weren’t coming on at the time I told it to. Eventually I set one and let it go for a bit, and it eventually came on like 10 minutes later. So I realized that they actually were working, the time just want synced well on the bulbs. I then tried to factory reset the bulbs to see if setting them up again would fix the time issue. This process wasn’t to bad but you have to watch the video to figure out how to reset them. When I tried to set them back up though, there was always one bulb that wouldn’t connect to Wi-Fi. I tried like 5 times resetting them and trying to set them back up, and each time one of the bulbs wouldn’t connect. I eventually let it alone for a day and tried again, and thankfully it worked. I figured out that if I let the bulb run for too long I think something with it being to hot interferes with the Wi-Fi setup. So if you are having problems with connecting the Wi-Fi, let it cool down a bit and then quickly set it up right after you turn them on. Still after resetting them several times, there was always some weird problem with the scheduling feature that wouldn’t work the way I wanted them too. So eventually I just connected them to Alexa and setup a schedule through the Alexa app. This has worked fantastically and without any problems. You might have to set multiple schedules in order to accomplish something though because there are less features you can do through the Alexa app. For example if you want the light to come on at a low brightness and ramp up with a different color, then you have to use two schedules for changing the color and doing the brightness ramp. Also note that if the bulb has physically been turned off with the switch, it must be turn back on for a few minutes before Alexa can find it and control it. Overall these bulbs have done what I need them too through the Alexa app, but I have not found the Cync app to be useful beside just changing the brightness and color manually. If these bulbs are on sale they may be worth it because they are cheap, but I would look elsewhere first for a bulb with a better app integration.

Great for color changing/dimming, but software issues hamper these greatly
My girlfriend and I love these! They are great for night time when you want to dim the lights but don’t have a dimming light switch. they are easy to use voice commands with too.So I’m not sure if this is an issue with similar products, but they have issues with a few things. One is that if you turn the light off manually, with the switch, it has the potential to de-sync it when you try to use it again after turning it on. You pretty much have to only use voice command or the app of your choice to turn them on/off, or you risk a frustrating experience trying to figure out why they aren’t changing colors or dimming like the other one(s) you have set up.The other issue is connecting them through the Google Home app. That really sucked. They would constantly not be able to “talk” to Google Home, meaning yeah I might have flicked one off using the wall switch, but there was no way it was going to turn back on or ever be synced again and I would have to do a factory reset and connect it all over again which could ruin an otherwise nice evening. Luckily I did some research and found that was just with Google home, and I downloaded the Cync™ app, which connected the lightbulbs to Google Home through THAT app, and now they work much better than ever before. It also gives them Software Updates, which Google Home did NOT do, and I’m assuming that’s why they were having some of the problems they did before. This way also if my girlfriend or I flick the switch off at the wall, we can probably assume it will be fine when it gets turned on again and I won’t have to do a factory reset like mentioned above.Whew! I know that’s a lot, but to summarize, if you get these and want to use Google Home, install the Cync™ app and it will prompt you to add them to Google Home, which is the better way to avoid a LOT of issues with connection with these lights while still enjoying all the functionality of the Google ecosystem if you have that set up in your house.

So Easy to Use and SO Functional
These bulbs are awesome. I’ve got them in most lamps in the house now bc I just love all the functionality. Be sure to get them on sale, but even at regular price they’re worth it. Also, word of caution: they can be a little tricky to use with lamps that otherwise use three way bulbs or for lamps that have two bulbs that alternate by turning the knob so many times.

They are light bulbs but not very smart
I bought these to be used with alexa but they have apparent connectivity issues. When I tell alexa to turn off the lights sometimes they turn off and sometimes they take 30 seconds to turn off. Sometimes they don’t turn off at all. Even when using the cync app sometimes it says they are not connected to the internet but a minute later they are working again. If you want a smart bulb look elsewhere

Control bulbs via app, some limits
I like the ability to control my lights from the phone, but it does have limits. Like the package says, it works with Google Home and Alexa. It does not connect to Apple HomeKit and can be difficult to control via Voice Control on iPhone because of the app’s UI.Also, the bulbs do not dim as low as normal bulbs would. That said, I’m pleased with the purchase. I like the ability to change how warm/soft or cool the color is, and the various color options. The app also allows you to save favorite colors and set up schedules/routines.You must use the app to control the light, and the light switch must stay on at all times to keep the bulbs connected to wifi for them to work.If my phone dies while I have them off, I guess I’d be in the dark. Will have to keep my phone charged up lol.P.S. if you have these standard base bulbs, but your fixture is candelabra base, Amazon sells candelabra to standard adaptors. Work perfectly.

it is a color bulb
I liked it because you can change it to different colors. It will flash to music if you want it to flash like a siren it will, if you want it to be a strobe light you can. It is very cool for parties.

Amazon website inaccurate
The website 2 bulb vs 4 bulb buttons are backwards. The price and pictures are backwards too. Beware! I thought I was getting four bulbs but only got two. Five stars for the product and app. The product itself is great!

I have filled rooms with these and still plan to buy more
I absolutely love these bulbs and have spend a fair amount of money replacing lights throughout my home with these bulbs. The Cync app is nice in that I can have a lot of fun with it and explore around creating scenes, schedules, and all that fun stuff. However, I really do wish the app was available in the Microsoft Windows store so I could control the bulbs from my PC, natively. They work well with Alexia and the colors on the bulbs are quite nice for the most part, which brings me to why I took away one star. When I have the brightness on the bulbs dimmed to below 25% or some, a bulb will go “rogue” and display a slightly different color (it’ll be a lower saturation, and look washed out). It’s a bit of an annoyance, but not enough to make me not order these again. In fact, I have ordered these bulbs many times over and feel safe in recommending that you do as well. 🙂

Good quality for price
Have had these for about a year now. My favorite feature is I automated them to turn on before dusk through the Google Home app. This way I don’t come home to a dark house and being able to turn them on when I’m not home gives the presence someone is home. I do have trouble with one that is located on the opposite side of the house of my router. It won’t respond to manual changes through the Google Home app half the time or is delayed response. However, when I use the Cync app it is usually pretty responsive.

Automate all the lights in your home!
I’m really impressed with this GE lightbulb’s performance. It’s been a game-changer for creating the perfect atmosphere in my rooms. I love how I can instantly adjust the lighting levels to fit my mood, whether I want a brightly lit room or a cozy, warm vibe. The fact that I can control everything through my Google app is incredibly convenient. Setting up the automated features has been a breeze, especially for those times when I’m away on vacation or coming home late. The only minor issue I’ve encountered is that the bulbs sometimes go offline, requiring a manual reset. However, this doesn’t happen often and hasn’t been a huge inconvenience for me. What I really appreciate is the longevity of these bulbs. I’ve had one for over three years, and it’s still performing as if it were brand new. So much so that I keep buying more for different areas of my home. Overall, despite the occasional glitch, the benefits and reliability of these bulbs make them a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to upgrade their home lighting system.

They work great if you don’t use their app!
When I first got these bulbs, I hated them. I set them up in the Cync app and connected them to my Google Home. They were constantly going offline in the Google Home app and would hardly ever work. However, they always worked perfectly if I used the Cync app, so the problem is with the Google Home connector to the Cync backend.I then noticed that these bulbs support a direct connection with Google Home. So I deleted them from the Cync App and set them back up directly from Google Home. Now they work without getting disconnected all the time. So if you want to use these with Google Home, skip using their app!

Never will go back to regular lightbulbs
My cousin had these and I was so curious about trying them for myself. The overall concept is simple and I’m sure most brands will be similar, but I do like this one. They have an app which is pretty simple to use. A shame you can’t use this with three prong devices like fans and whatnot. Also I did notice sometimes you have to reset the lights within the app as they get disconnected. Additionally, you can’t have two people adjusting the light setting for the same device at the same time (may be common sense but I didn’t think about it until I tried it with my roommate). I did receive one that burnt out within the day.

lacking some features
I’ve been having a lot of connectivity issues with my LifX bulb. I had such a good experience with the CYNC plugs that I decided to try these bulbs. The quality of the light is great and the setup took less than 2 minutes since I already had a home setup in the CYNC app. However, I found some control features missing that were nice to have with the LifX bulb.1. The light doesn’t really fade on and off as smoothly as the LifX.2. When changing the light value using voice commands from say 100% to 50% it just jumps abruptly. It would be nice and much easier on my eyes and brain if it faded smoothly down.3. When setting up a schedule I found that you can’t specify or change the light percentage setting. The light is either on or off. So if you dimmed the light to 15% the night before to watch a movie, then turned it off, the next day when the light turns back on it will still be at 15%. With the LifX bulb I was able to specify different values at different times. So could auto fade the light throughout the evening. As a work around I set up all the dimming values in my Alexa account. But this seems unnecessarily complicated. I feel I should be able to control all aspects of the light from the CYNC appOverall, I’m keeping these bulbs. They were so much easier to setup and their connection to my network is way more stable. That alone is worth the trade off of the missing features. Although I do hope GE expands their app capability in the future.

Goofy application
Lights are super cool and do exactly what I wanted in theory, if the App actually worked. The app can’t figure out that folks want start and end times to occur over night. For example lights start at 10 and end at 8:00 a.m. the next morning. The app would say there were time conflicts. Worked with support several times and basically just kept being told to redo the schedule or redo the entire setup.Have it tricked to “sort of” work like it should but it’s sad in 2024 folks can’t figure out how to build a functional app.

I love these bulbs so much I bought a few more.
The “Salmon” color is so very soothing in the evening, not too bright as I’m winding down for the night, but bright enough not to cause eye strain as I’m finishing my night routine. I love that I can schedule them to come on at dusk so I don’t arrive home from work in the dark, and it helps my pets stay on a healthier schedule as well. The extra colors are super fun!

Not bright enough
So I just bought oe set of this particular light bulb to make it somewhat easier to turn the lights on and off, and I’m not happy with their performance. After I got them I set them up, which was really simple because as soon as I pulled one out of the box Alexa had found it without pairing. I don’t like that they’re EXTREMELY DIM,even when both of them were already set to max brightness, in my opinion they aren’t suitable for a cieling mounted light fixture I would reccomend installing them in a lamp, which is what I’m going to do.

Compatible with Alexa? Depending on where you live.
Although the lights are wonderful and can be controlled via smartphone, and indeed they are smart light bulbs… now I just use them like regular light bulbs (which I could have bought at any grocery shop). The way they integrate with Alexa depends on various factors… Alexa’s skills (which these light bulbs use) are not open in LatinAmerica… (for reasons I don’t know)… So I couldn’t integrate them with Alexa.

It works! You get what you pay for
I bought this product while it was on sale and it seems to have worked well so far. Connecting the lights to my google home was easy! The lights are bright and are colorful and there are even options to create light shows in the app. However, these specific bulbs do not sync with Amazon Music, Apple music, or Spotify.Integration with Google home is seamless at first… but there are a lot of times where Google cannot recognize the device and will not turn on/off the lights. I have to manually do it through my app (and even that doesn’t work sometimes).Overall, they’re ok. You get what you pay for here. I like them but the connectivity could be a LOT better.

Good Wi-Fi Lights
Purchased these as I wanted to have lights go on / off while we were out of town and figured it was time to upgrade from the old school timer switch. So far these have worked well. Set up one in my office in a stand up light and 2 in overhead lights in our kitchen. Instructions were okay. Initially thought I could set up in Google home app but that didn’t work. Eventually downloaded the Cync app which worked. I’ve left the office lights on since returning from vacation. The kitchen lights did lose their connection once we returned home and stopped turning on/off automatically, so I need to reset them. But in terms of the value for the lights they were good. Haven’t used the colored options or any of the advanced features in the app but for what I wanted to use them for they worked well.

Bulbs work ok App not so much
I like the bulbs, but the phone App that controls the bulbs doesn’t work so well. It looses connection all the time. I have to restart the App every time I use it. I had it take up to a minute or more to connect. Fix the app and it would be 5 stars

Easy to install, bright enough, but blinky
I try to purchase from the same smart home companies continuously – brand loyalty is still a thing and it keeps the number of apps on my phone and that I have know how to use at a reasonable level. But when I saw these bulbs at a really good price (almost half of what I pay for the ones I was using), I jumped. Setup was super easy. Integration with Alexa was pretty good – I do occasionally have Alexa telling me she doesn’t know how to do something, but otherwise no problem.Pros: Cheap, easy set up. Reasonably bright.Cons: I don’t feel the colors go as deep as my regular brand. I initially thought these had a better range of color and I was wrong. Dark blue with these is just blue. Also… I hate to say it, but they flicker. I don’t know what the cause is, but I have experienced it in multiple rooms. They will randomly flicker off and on or darker then back to what they were set on.UPDATE: It has been quite awhile since I purchased these bulbs. I ended up putting them where I don’t really want or need the same amount of color variation and they worked fine for awhile. BUT I recently made some changes to the wifi in my house and needed to reprogram these and I just can’t do it. I have tried all of the help articles on the internet about resetting the bulbs and how to repair them and turning them off and on repeatedly. I can’t honestly tell you how many times I sat there flicking the lights in my house, on multiple days, trying to get these to go into pairing mode so that I could set them up again. They just wouldn’t do it. I gave up and I am giving these away and ordering from my regular brand.

Works well with google
I almost wrote the setup was easy – but not really. You need to set up in the cinc app then link to google home – but then you can use voice commands from there. It isn’t that bad but requires several steps. Once set up I love the lights. A couple things to note. The white light can be very bright but all colors are not as bright – to my eye I would say 1/3 as bright in maximum. Also, when you do a programmed setting like ‘rainbow’ there is only one brightness – not very bright. I did not find a way to brighten the standard settings like for rainbow. Also. Just to let you know you can use google to change bulb color (no app needed) – you just say hey google change the light to pink – or change the light to rainbow. Works really well – seems reliable (more reliable than earlier GE bulbs I had.)Regardless I am quite happy with the purchase and would purchase again.

Essential kaleidoscope for the hearth
Smart bulbs are good for three things: Security, entertainment and comfort. Security because one can remotely turn on lights which can deter agents of the night. Entertainment because one can select a color to frame the mood including party flashing lights or subtle romantic ambiances. Comfort because the color and intensity of light can enhance the environment.I had always wanted them, and had my sights on the Phillips Hue smart bulb. When it comes to electronics, I’ve learned the hard way to only go with brands that I trust and recognize. The Phillips brand is a well known one, but the bulb was way too expensive. There are much cheaper bulbs but they are from obscure brands. And then I saw these. GE is a household name and these bulbs are far cheaper than the Phillips. When they arrived I followed the instructions, inserted the bulbs into their receptacles, turned them on and added them using the proprietary Cync app which I easily found and downloaded to my Android phone. I then added the two bulbs to the Google Home app on my phone. Now, turning on my home office light for example is as simple as commanding my Google Assistant to do so verbally. This answered the one question that I needed clarity on: whether I needed any hardware other than my phone to operate these bulbs. I do not.It has all the colors on the spectrum, and can imitate settings like the flickering of a candle or sunset. The light can be dimmed or enhanced in intensity. These are also rated to last 15 times longer than regular bulbs. The software could be better, and hence the reason for docking this review one point. The app doesn’t always connect immediately and can get hung up. But it always eventually resolves itself. Also, it only seems to work with Google Home when I am within my home’s WIFI range. But I can control the bulbs wirelessly from anywhere in the world including at home with the Cync app. Hence, I use either app to control the bulbs, depending on where I am. I am happy with the purchase.N.B. I bought both the A19 and the A21 models. The A19 model is the basic house bulb, rated at 60 watts. It worked in every receptacle I installed it in the house. The A20 is a slightly but noticeably larger bulb, both in height and diameter, rated for 100 watts. It is more selective, and would not work for my front porch. It is also significantly brighter than the A19. It’s now my habit to turn on the family room light remotely if I am not home, so that my dog does not have to sit in the dark.

Outstanding Value
The light looks great.Full brightness is nice and bright. There is a dimmer available in the app, so you can dim regardless of whether you have a dimmer switch on your wall. The colors look great! There are thousands of different colors. If using standard light, you can choose between cool, warm, and standard, and also fine tune those to whatever degree you choose. For $10 per bulb, these are a great addition to any room that could use a piece of flair. The app is really easy to use.

Really easy to install. Great product.
Really like these lights. I was going to install a new switch to have dimming lights in my living room. This was much easier and having the Alexa integration is wonderful.

Works great.
These devices are installed throughout my residence. In addition to the cost savings in terms of electricity consumption, they are dependable and simple to configure. They seamlessly integrate with Google.

Read this if you’re having setup problems
First off, this is just an initial review, I’ve only started using the bulbs today. I’ll update later.Initial install:I bought four bulbs and placed them in a bathroom wall fixture. The existing bulbs were working prior to the install, but when I inserted the Cync bulbs… nothing. No light, no blink, nothing. I used a table lamp to try to set them up one at a time, when I encountered the next problem…Setup issues:After a customer service chat, I was finally able to get one of the four bulbs setup. Here’s all the things I tried before it finally worked; I don’t know what was actually the problem: – Turned off 5Ghz wifi on my router – Disconnected my Bluetooth hearing aids – Reset the bulb numerous times using the “8 seconds on, 2 seconds off, rinse and repeat” technique – Setup a different “home” in the Cync app and tried to add to thatAfter doing all of that, I got ONE bulb to configure. The other three would not configure. I tried killing the app, no dice. Then, I had an epiphany: I rebooted my iPhone. Voila, a second bulb configured! I tried the third, and… no dice. Another reboot, and it worked. Literally, I could only configure one bulb PER BOOTLOAD of my phone. Unbelievably buggy app.Reinstalling in the original fixture:Four configured bulbs in hand, I excitedly headed back to the bathroom. Put them in the fixture, nothing. Dead. No light, no blink, nothing. I contacted support again, and they actually called me (again, customer support is actually quite good for these devices). After I described my problem, he finally said something that… wait for it… made a light come on in my head. He said that, if they don’t come on at all, they’re not getting power, and maybe the contact in the center of the socket wasn’t making contact with the bulb. I powered off the fixture, got my needlenose pliers, bent them all out a little, and… voila! All four bulbs illuminated and are now working with both the Cync app and Alexa! Conclusion:Many things went wrong with my installation. I was >this< close to boxing them up and returning them, but I was on a mission after I got the first one to configure. Hopefully this helps someone else, it took me the better part of an afternoon to get these things to work. 20 people found this helpful

Besides getting it set up, these have been fantastic!
As it seems like a few people also have had issues with, getting these set up took me a couple hours. For some reason my google home recognized them but refused to connect, and the solution ultimately was to turn wifi off on my phone. Not sure if this was a google issue or a Cync issue but it ended up working outConnectivity is good 95% of the time, sometimes when switching colors one or both of my bulbs won’t switch and I’ll have to click it again, but that is a very minor issue. The bulbs are really responsive and I’ve never had problems using my google home voice activation to get them to work. Color range is impressive but some of the more extreme presets they have show up a bit weird – for example, “forest green” shows up almost the same as the “lime” color and “Alice blue” shows up as white with a slight pink hue. Another minor issue as most other colors look as expected.Overall it has been a very fun purchase that makes my room much livelier. I’m not a huge fan of top-down lighting so having these in lamps has been so much better than using my ceiling lights, especially when it’s dark outside. Wait for these to go on sale as they inevitably will at some point and get yourself a few of them!

Great colors, connectivity a little inconsistent
I have 4 of these bulbs, two are paired as one in a single fixture located in a bedroom, and two are in separate fixtures on opposite walls in my living room. I like the color choices and ability to save colors you like to switch between. One light is set to come on daily for a certain period of time, and besides once it has always turned on and off as programmed.I only use the Cync app (on an iphone). I dont have any other Alexa or Google home devices so I found using the Google home app pointless. Cync app seems to do everything I want.My only complaint is when I want to tweak/adjust the lights I have to be in the room with them. So my two living room lights can only be adjusted from in there, and the bedroom lights can only be adjusted if youre in the room, or right outside the door. The app tends to only communicate well when you are near the bulb you want to adjust. This isnt a deal breaker for me, but I live in a small house so it seems like connectivity wouldnt be an issue. My other WIFI devices get a strong signal in those rooms.Maybe the flaw is with the Cync app. I guess its possible it only wants to connect to the bulbs via bluetooth when making adjustments, and therefore has trouble communicating with that large of a radius simultaneously. But supposedly they use WIFI and bluetooth. I’m just not sure how the technology is being utilized.Update: Everything is working perfectly now. My problem was the first bulbs I setup were a little further from my wifi router than the others, and I guess the bulbs create some sort of mesh network allowing them to work together and stay interconnected. Must be a Cync thing. Bottomline all I had to do was remove/delete the pair I setup first, which made one of the bulbs closer to my router the sorta main communicator or creator of the mesh network. Added the bulb pair back, and now everything works great. Lights are controllable from anywhere I have a network connection from the Cync app. Think I’ll leave my rating at 4 stars though.

So much easier to sync than Feit!
I normally don’t write reviews, but after fumbling around trying to set up my 100 watt feit smart bulb, and even on phone with feit tech…I returned it and bought the 100 watt (equivalent) bulbs from cync (General Electric). Wow…so much easier! Screw in bulb….turn light on…say..alexa discover new light.Bam….that’s it. I didn’t even need to Install a special app. from Ge.Hopefully I will remain happy with my new bulbs, but I was so excited about the easy installation…I wrote this review.

The lights work well, the app isn’t bad, good range of features. Mandatory Wifi is a bummer though.
They work fine, get plenty bright enough, though I wish the white light could get a bit dimmer. I have to use the RGB lighting set to a pale orange to use it for a suitable night light in my lamp, but that’s probably a niche use case anyway. The biggest issue is their insistence on using a WIFI connection at all times in order to function correctly. If they contain a bluetooth radio, just let us use that by itself if we want. Very silly.

Bulbs are fine, Cync is trash
The Cync app is s clunky pain in the behind to set up. One bulb connected just fine with only one minor issue. The second one though…it nearly went in the trash after nearly an hour of set up.It kept saying “Device Unavailable”. So I reset the bulb no less than 10 times before FINALLY getting it to connect… stay connected. Both are working just fine and I do like all the color options, the timer option, the ability to work with Alexa and such. But I don’t trust the Cync app. I will invest in something better in the future I think.

Fun and less expensive option
The media could not be loaded.
These bulbs are less expensive in general AND don’t require a hub. Two big wins there. I’ve had two of these installed on my front porch for a week or so now, and they’re still shining bright.Installation was as simple as screwing in a light bulb.To set them up, I installed the Cync app and used that. I initially had a failure adding the bulbs, but later determined it was because I was attempting to name a room and a group with the same name during setup. When I retried setup and used different names, it worked flawlessly. After setup the bulbs needed a firmware update. Ya, weird… light bulbs… firmware… The update failed on both bulbs at first – don’t know why. When I went back in to try again it worked just fine and they both updated.Adding the group to Google home was simple, but USING them is hit/miss. It looks like Google has issues talking with the Cync servers. Using the Cync app worked every time. For these particular bulbs, I really don’t have a desire to use Google Home, but if I get additional interior bulbs I’ll have to dig further.I got the A21 (100W equivalent) so they were brighter, but after installing these the A19s would be fine. In fact I’ve set the dim to 50% they were so bright.Changing colors and setting favorites is easy, and the animated stuff is cool. In the attached video, they go from “normal”, to “candle”, to “vegas”, to “lava”, then back to normal. You can create your own effects as well.I’m considering replacing my kitchen bulbs with these!

They work great but the quality control is iffy
These lights work fantastic when they work. I don’t have an issue with the app in the smart home integration is great. The only issue I’ve noticed is the quality control. Recently I bought a set of two of them and one of them died with in 2 months. Just would not turn on at all. That’s an incredibly short lifetime for any light let alone a smart light. Hopefully if they do die it’s within warranty.

Surpassed my expectations
Easy to install and I like that I can set schedules to turn on and off. I was quite impressed by the brightness and I’m most happy that I didn’t need to buy anything else but the bulbs and don’t need Alexa or google to use it.

The lights work fine, but the Cync app is not user friendly
I have several brands of smart LED bulbs in my house, including GE Sync, Wyze, and Kasa (TP-Link). As bulbs go they all are pretty comparable. They are all bright, they all change colors and brightness based on whatever you desire.Where GE Cync fails is its app and the ability to program these lights. Again, it’s super easy to select the color and brightness, that’s not a problem. But when it comes to setting a schedule, the Cync app does everything it can to work against you. You have to create a room, then a routine, then a schedule within the routine, and then add a picture. Once you do that, if you want to make any changes, you have hunt the room, routine, etc. just to make a quick change that turns out to be not so quick. Oh, and make sure you’re close enough to the light so you can connect via Bluetooth! Because that’s convenient. Sometimes if you make a color change, it reverts back to the old color the next time the light turns on via the schedule. Why? We don’t know why. Must be a GE thing.Let’s compare that to Wyze and Kasa. Get on the app. Select the light bulb that you want. Make your changes in 3 finger taps. Done!If I didn’t have any other smart bulb, I’d probably be pretty happy in my ignorance of just how horrible the Cync app actually is. The light has colors! It’s shiny! But, I do have other bulbs, and I’d recommend you purchase literally any other brand that isn’t GE Cync.Happy to reevaluate if GE ever revamps the Cync app, but I’m not holding my breath. Neither should you.

Easy setup
Easy setup with Cync app. Bought them to connect with my Alexa smart home. Connected to Alexa much easier then other smart bulbs I purchased in the past.

Get Lit
I recently bought a set of (4) GE CYNC Smart LED Light Bulbs for my Living Room. I mainly chose these bulbs because I used them in other fixtures in my home and liked how well they integrated with Alexa. Pairing these bulbs is generally easy and the best part is they DO NOT require a separate Hub. The color range is wide, and I have found setting them to “Turquoise” gives the room a warm glow without being too bright or, harsh. The only issue I had is one of the bulbs would not pair with Alexa while the other three did. I replaced the one which didn’t work and now all is good. Amazon as per usual, delivered my order quickly. I’ll be sure to order more in the future. I hope I was able to shine a light on these great products and brighten someone’s day.

I like them a lot
They are very bright. I bought these because of the adjustable white balance for normal lighting as the blue-ish LED colors give me a headache. I wish the bulbs came with a simple remote instead of relying on the app, but I realize that I am in the minority with not wanting to use an app.
