Good, but noisy
Purchased the C225 model. Everything is good except the sound in the video recordings, or when watching live. The sound also includes the motor noise when the unit is tracking the activity. It is quite distracting when trying to listen to what is being said. The motor noise is extremely loud in the recordings (and live). The unit is silent in the room when moving to track the activity, but not in the recordings or watching live.Also, the recordings have a feature to do a video summary, since most recordings are very short in duration, but the video summary overlays the actual sound of the original recordings with a music track, which I find to be stupid. There is no option to keep the original sound in the video summary. I am using this camera to monitor my Mother’s care in an Alzheimer’s facility, and it is important to be able to hear the conversation happening, not a music track in the summary.

I have three ring cameras at home and one of them couldn’t update and they told me that I have to buy a new one, so I decided to look for other options and this was the best decision i made.. the quality and features are even better than ring. Perfect camera for pets/kids/security.
Simple to connect to WiFi and works perfectly. Panning up/down and left/right is flawless. You can tap to change by degree (adjustable) or hold to pan until you remover your finger. SD card slot is built in to the bottom for capturing video without a subscription service. HD camera shows pictures crisp and clean and night vision is perfect as well (greyscale but crisp). There is a green power LED that you can leave on,or turn off if you want secret mode. The camera swivels noislessly. Comes with a mounting bracket to fasten to a wall or ceiling. This does require a wall plug in so keep that in mind.

Great Product for the price
I have bought three Tapo C-200, a very affordable surveillance camera, two for myself and one to send overseas to a relative. This product is amazing despite the price range; the image is very clear day or night and holds so many features as found in many other cams which are much more expensive than this one. Not only is the product great, but I contacted the tech team to help me with an issue I created myself, and I am very pleased and satisfied with the prompt response by TP-Link Support Team. Very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. More importantly, my issue was fix thanks to them.👍

Actually good no BS wifi camera for use with an app.
Put the app on your phone, plug the camera in, wait for the blinking lights. Connect your phone wifi to the camera hotspot, click add new device on the app, put in your home wifi, done. It asks for you to subscribe to.. something, which I assume cost money, but one “opt out” during setup and that is all. Works perfect, good picture quality, amazing night vision quality. You can connect multiple apps to the same camera, just use the same login (it will send a verification code to the first device you used). Exactly what I wanted, simple and just does what it’s supposed to do.

great for a low cost panable camera
Do you need a camera to monitor part of the house, the garage, the pets? Do you have a plug nearby? Then this camera is great. It’s not the highest res, but 1080P is very clear and does a good job with night vision even though there are not a lot of IR lights around it. It has a decent amount of rotation and tilt to be able to monitor a pretty wide area.Setup, was a little quirky. you first connect your phone to the cameras wifi. Then you set the camera to detect the home wifi router, putting in the 2.4ghz password. If that completes, you’re pretty much on your way. If not, you have to repeat this step a couple of times, which happened to me. At first i wasn’t too sure of the setup routine as it wouldn’t complete the setup. Another irritation is, it will say your microsd car isn’t useable. You need to use the tapo app to format the sd card once the phone app and camera are setup, and it should be fine. The phone app lets you take a picture, lets you record and stop recording. What i dont know yet, is it recording per schedule, or recording when you hit the record button while viewing? I will have to check into that, but you get a scheduler like most security cams, with normal recording schedule and motion schedule. It comes with a mount bracket to mount on wall or someplace. I just have it on a desk so i can point it down at where my dog sleeps. You can pan it around and the 1080p picture is clear in daylight and infrared at night. If the setup worked a little better i’d give this 5 stars because the price is great.So if you need a small camera, that you can just place somewhere in the house in range of your 2.4ghz router, this works and was somewhat easy to set up. 4stars for now, but 5 star price.i’m updating review since i just bought my 3rd tapo camera. So connection setup must have been fixed somewhat as i was able to set up on first try. It’s still the same though as i mentioned above. What i didn’t mention, is that there is a normal recording schedule which records continuously and a motion recoring schedule which only records when it detects movement. So when you go to play back you will only see snippets of recording if you only selected motion. They added a lot of features which requires some sort of subscription, like i do not use cloud, i dont like my home being stored online. I dont use advanced (subscribed) features like they can send you emails with snapshot for different triggers (movement, person, baby) but you will pay for this email service. It does have notifications though for free and it is just a text msg saying a detection happened, which is good enough for me. Also with other cameras you can filter sections of the screen out, that it wont trigger a notification. This works well unless you follow mode which the camera will try to follow the movement and then the filtered section will now filter areas you didn’t want to. So take that into consideration. Still giving this a 5 for the price of the camera.

Excellent! Affordable and easy to use
I purchased this to watch my new rescue dog when I was away. It was exactly what I was looking for!! This camera automatically tracks motion although my pupper does run around quite a bit so sometimes the camera does not keep up and I have to manually pan. The camera also switches on its own to night vision if it is too dark in the environment. Another excellent feature is the “call” button which I can use to talk through. The picture is great and the sound quality is enough to know what is going on in the environment. Save some money and choose this camera, it gets the job done!

Awesome Camera
I love this so much, I bought one for my elderly father in law. It is sensitive to movement and gives great pictures. I also bought a memory chip to save some clips. I bought mine to keep an eye on our teen when we’re out. I have paid for the yearly service for one camera, but not the 2nd one. I recommend and feel it’s worth the $$.

Pretty Good Camera
It tells you to download the Kasa app to connect the camera. I could not get it to connect using that app at all. Luckily, I have another Tapo camera in my house so I already have their Tapo app. After trying to set it up using the Tapo app instead, it connected right away. Super strange. The panning feature is super helpful and cool. And it has good resolution for the price. So don’t use the Kasa app. Use the Tapo app to connect this camera. It’ll save you some time, and irritation.

Easy to setup, great HomeKit camera
This is a cool HomeKit camera. I have ring, nest and wanted to try my first HomeKit camera since I’m already paying for iCloud. The camera is great, pan and tilt works well. Though the angle is not as wide as let’s say the c120. HomeKit video is still quite narrow in features vs what this camera is capable of, eg only 1080p vs 2k in the tapo app. If you buy this, know that HomeKit is great for scripting automation but the real features on the camera are in the actual app. Not a bad trade off. Overall, great and affordable camera that works with HomeKit or also works without a subscription.

Flawed – Better than other New Similar ONVIF/ RTSP IP Cameras
I empathize with other reviewers who staate “Tapo is Crappo”. This new ONVIF/RTSP camera does not compare to the quality or functionality of the older PTZ cameras which had many options and were easy to view/manage in just about any IP Camera viewer app.For starters, there is no way you can use this camera without installing the Tapo app. Why must you eat up your precious phone memory by installiing a NEW app for every piece of hardware you want to access remotely? Well folks, that seems to be the Brave New World of proprietary products and self-centered corporations manufacturing the products we need.This camera has no setup where you can browse into the camera and change all the settings.Can you assign a static IP? NOPE.Can you assign a custom camera port #? NOPECan you assign preset positions? NOPECan you use an http browser to connect to the camera, adjust settings, and view streaming video? NOPE, NOPE, and NOPEThe mounting options are cheap. In the past you were given a bracket that allowed you to adjust in the vertical and hoizontal planes. This comes with the cheapest mounting bracket that would be possible for the human brain to conceive.Is horizontal adjustment possible? NOPEIs vertical adjustment possible? NOPEYou essentially stick this on any horizonal or surface the way you want it with no possibility to fine turn where the camera is pointing, via bracket. You must “hope” that the PTZ movement of the camera is able to point it where you want to view. If not, then you’re either SOL or you must purchase a camera mounting bracket to give you the movements that should have been included as standard.Given all I say above, you might be surprised to know that my opinion this camera is that it’s not a bad camera and could be consideered better than average, considering the competition.Yes, many would consider this crappo and I’d have to include myself in that crowd, but if you consider the limitations vs. price, then this camera becomes a little less crappo because its’ limations can be managed, especially when you consider that all the newer ONVIF/RTSP cameras that I’ve investigated, many at a MUCH higher price, has the same or worse defects than this camera.So, what were considering is what is the LEAST Crappy camera available?Believe or not, folks, this is probably the Least Crappy camera out there.Your system prerequisite if you want to use a non-Tapo view app to view/operat this camera is that you need to setup Port forwardings of 2020 (internal) and 554 (internal) to the IP Address for EACH C200 camera on your network. Your router must be able to make IP Reservatons for DHCP for the IP of this camera. If not, your IP will keep changing and you’ll continually lose remote access to this camera because setting a statis IP Address in camera setup is impossible. But, if you can setup and IP Reservation on your router and can port forward for EACH camera to 2020 and 554 to each camera then you’re likely okay with this camera.Once this is done, you might be able to view this camera on 3rd party IP Camera viewer app that support ONFIV/RTSP.Because TAPO is an Alexa skill, it’s pretty easy to view this camera on any Alexa Echo SHOW device. I setup a routine (Named for my cat) that will cause Alexa echo Show to view a fixed position stream of my camera. You CANNOT move the camera using Alexa echo Show, but you can view the camera stream from where it’s positioned right now.The Tapo cloud service is worthless, but if you add a 128gb micro SD card, then you can save detected motion to know what’s happening when something moves in front of the camera to trigger recoding. This works pretty well and gives you several minutes of recording time. You cannot just click and download these clips, which is idiotic. But, if you play the clip, then click “Record” you can record the playing clip, then download this recording. It’s convoluted, but better than removing the SD card, placing into PC, and copying over the clip(s).I definitely am not in LOVE with this camera, and if a REAL camera came along that would allow me to view on Alexa echo Show, browse into configure all aspects of the camera, and use on any 3rd party remote view app, then I’d jump ship in a second and buy THAT camera.But… given that ALL these type cameras SUCK, I woudl choose THIS camera because it sucks at a LOWER price. So, if your camera sucks, it’s better to pay less for a sucky camera, if you can.Right now with the state of suck in IP Cameras, I’d recommend this camera as a BUY. I don’t like it much, but it’s better than whatever else you might be able to buy at a reasonable price.Just like when voting for political candidates, sometimes you just have to go with the one that sucks less out of a field of choices that all suck.Good Luck!!

Wanted a HomeKit camera, this works but the tech is limitedMy HomeKit devices are connected to 5.0 GHz network. This device ONLY WORKS ON 2.4 GHz networks.Not sacrificing my performance for one device. The product description FAILED to mention this.Otherwise, the camera can work with Tapo app. Quality is decent (1080p) but I don’t understand the description mentioning 2K quality.Returning product

Great for watching pet!!
Really good quality for a low price and even has night vision! Allows me to see my kitten when I turn the lights off and take my contacts out. You can even zoom in and the quality doesn’t get too bad when you do. The inly reason i didnt give it 5 stars is because when you talk into the camera, the audio is a bit scary on the other end. So i dont feel comfortable talking to my kitten in fear of scaring him😭. But for the price this is amazing

Love this little camera, it’s easy for my kid to use with his 3-D printer
The great thing about this is that the price is right for random projects. The app works to turn it and move it around and my kid who’s into 3-D printing was able to make amount so that we could screw it to his 3-D printer so that even when he is not here, he can monitor the status of his print job, this is much easier than any other custom hacks that we’ve seen and it’s working great highly recommended

Great for keeping an eye on my cats!!
Setting up the device was extremely straightforward and I use the app to check up on my kittens extremely often. When I’m at work I take a quick peek to see what they are up to and if I hear a suspicious noise in the middle of the night it’s so nice to have the option to look at my phone and see what’s going on instead of getting out of bed 100x. The video quality is good enough for my purposes and I love that you can zoom in on the app to take a closer look at something.My only complaint is that the motion detection is a bit finicky at times, most likely because my cats are small and move too quickly for the camera to keep up with. It will start rotating to track them, then when my cats quickly move out of frame the camera stops immediately.Bonus: I’ve been able to take some pretty hilarious photos of my cats (desmo is a big fan of staring straight into the camera like a freak at 3am). I’ve also been able to catch them getting up to no good (no cats on the counter!!)

Works. Setup was infuriating
I have other Tapo cameras that I’ve set up with no issues at all, so I wasn’t expecting to have issues getting this one set up but for whatever reason it refused to be found when I use the QR code outside of doing the HomeKit, which I don’t use even though I have an iPhone. FYI don’t expect this to set up to be easy. I couldn’t even tell you what I finally did to get it to work but now it’s working so there’s that it also doesn’t give you very good instructions about how to get it in initialize the first time it was a lot of trial and error before I finally got it going.The camera itself picture wise fantastic operation wise pretty good but I agree with other assessments about the longevity possibly being an issue because it’s plastic and not hard plastic light cheap plastic so that’s a little concerning so really it’s more like a 3 1/2 star than a 4 star rating.

Great product for a great value

Easy set up and works great
Setting up the camera to my phone was so easy and for how inexpensive it was it works so well. I’m very pleased will all of the features and this is perfect for my dogs when I’m not home

Love it!
I got this camera to keep an eye on my cats when I’m out of town. I had a great opportunity to test it out when took a week long trip abroad. It worked perfectly! The night vision was actually really cool because of the time difference. Half the time I checked in to see if the cats were around, it was night time, so I was still able to see them. It has a pretty good range of motion. It allowed me to see almost the entire room that I set the camera in. And for my favorite feature, the voice function. I happened to catch a moment where I could see my cat planning to jump on the counters (which they’re not allowed to do), and I used the microphone (keep in mind, I was in London and the cats were in Idaho, US) and I told the cat no, just like I would if I were home. He looked around to figure out where the voice came from and then thought about jumping up again, so I yelled again and he turned around and left the area! I was cracking up laughing because he was so confused, but it also worked!
